Friday, February 20th at 5:00 PM Pacific Standard Time Tom Leykis closed down the curtains of 97.1 FreeFM and 97.1 Amp Radio took the stage. 97.1 Amp radio is CBS Radio’s newest station. They advertise it as playing, “All the Hits”. Amp radio will start off with 10,000 songs. There will be little commercial interruption. Expect to hear the likes of Britney Spears, Pink, Justin Timberlake, Rihanna, Usher, Kelly Clarkson, Katy Perry, Kanye West, T.I., Beyonce and other Top 40 artists.
Listeners of 97.1 Amp radio can visit their website at Ampradio.com. They can also connect with other listeners through texting and social networking sites. The social networking sites include MySpace, Facebook and Twitter.
February 2008 marked the online debut of Amp Radio. It also broadcasted via HD stations on CBS Radio’s KCBS-FM in Los Angeles, California.
