Chaos on your PC this April Fool’s Day May Caused by Conficker Worm
March 31st, 2009 by Alfred

The worm named Conficker is estimated to infect several millions PCs worldwide. This worm is dormant and will be activated on April 1st. What exactly will happen if you are infected, you may ask? So called, “Security Experts” themselves do not even know 100%. It may automatically send everyone in your contact list a virus which will be wrapped up in an email sent using your own email account. It might even record your login information from websites like MySpace, Facebook or your online banking info. It will send this information to the creator of the virus.

What can you do to prevent this malicious worm from creating anarchy on your computer? You can make sure that your anti-virus software automatically downloads and installs it’s daily updates.

In February Microsoft announced a $250,000 reward for anyone who gave them information leading to the arrest and conviction of the Conficker worm author.

You are right, Macs will not be affected. Most, if not all viruses written for the PC will not affect Macs or Linux. Just like any virus written for the Mac will not affect PCs.

I’ve heard from multiple sources that the Conficker worm won’t be a threat to Mac users, thank goodness
