The debate was held at the Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. Six of the presidential hopefuls clashed last night over their credentials and personal histories with frontrunner New Gingrich battling his rivals’ attacks from all sides.
The highlight of the night was Mitt Romney’s $10,000 bet with Texas Governor Rick Perry over the individual health insurance mandate. No Apologies was penned by Mitt Romney.
“I read your first book and it said in there that your mandate in Massachusetts should be the model for the country. And I know it came out of the reprint of the book. But, you know, I’m just sayin’, you were for individual mandates, my friend.”

This is where Romney challenged Perry to the $10,000 bet to dispute Perry’s claims.
Jobs was the hot topic among Republican presidential hopefuls. It was agreed by all debate participants that lower taxes and fewer regulations will create jobs. None of them gave details on how their own plan differs from the others. Only Ron Paul blamed the federal reserve and bank bailouts for the loss of jobs in the country.
