Wormwood

Last night’s episode of Dexter entitled ‘Richocet Rabbit,’ has got me on the edge of my seat. Literally. Let’s go over the highlights (in my opinion) of the episode.

Dexter

Dexter

So Gellar is dead. Boo-freaking-hoo. We see that Travis is talking to an imaginary Gellar. It was pretty funny that there was a comparison between Dexter and Travis. Travis was able to put the blame on Dexter. His killing of Gellar and for letting the original whore go. Travis was determined to make his mistake right. He was able to track down ‘Doomsday Adam’ and recruited him and his wife to Travis’ cause and having the couple kill the original whore as a test of their commitment. This gets Doomsday Adam killed and Dexter even more pissed that he wasn’t able to make right of his mistake. (At least Travis was able to make right of his.)

We also find out that Travis is a sociopath, from the Pysch file from his doctor. Or as Quinn would call it, Psych-o file. Speaking of Quinn, he’s turning out to be a complete jerk for the past couple of episodes. I bet Deb would throw a fit if she finds out that Quinn wasn’t there to be Batista’s backup. It’ll be even more interesting if Batista gets hurt and Quinn will die from the poison gas trying to save Deb in order redeem himself for being the way he is after their break up.

Louis finally tells Jamie about his fascination with Dexter. I really think he’s got a man crush on Dexter (not that I blame him).  He’s been meaning to consult Dexter about his latest creation. Jamie convinces him to just ask, and so he does. Much to his surprise, Dexter hated the idea of having a game based on serial killers. I think what put him off the most is that the Bay Harbour Butcher and the Ice Truck Killer are personas you can play in it. That and Louis inadvertently made fun of Dexter’s dark passenger.

And with Dexter regretting listening to Brother Sam and arguing with his dad. It looks like Dexter’s going to be as pissed like we’ve never seen him before. He has decided to just put his faith on himself and trust his own judgement. But with the realization of what Wormwood is, he was forced to make a call to 911 to tell all about it.

Most of all, we finally get to see what Wormwood is. A poison concocted by Travis on the Ricochet Rabbit.

So I did a little digging of my own and found that Wormwood is actually a name of a star. The passage from the Bible is:

“And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon a third of the rivers, and upon the springs of water; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and a third of the waters became Bitter; and many people had died of the waters, because they were made bitter.”

- Revelation 8:10, 11, KJB

It seems like Travis has a different idea on what Wormwood is about. I can’t really imagine how the deadly gas can cause a structural impact at the Miami Metro Homicide. And if you take it from that passage, shouldn’t Travis made something that has got to do with water?

I so can’t wait for next week. I wish it were Sunday already!
